When I was overseas,in the pacific islands these little buggers were everywhere.I tried many of nights of guard duty to catch one,I never did.We had a different name for them concerning what there call sound like "love you, love you"except not love,ya know what I mean:c2:

Just an update on my wifes/my house geckos. We originally put them in with out firebellys which have a water heavy home .They wilted all this week.I don't think they ate,and they barely moved.Today ,I made a command decision and moved them to an unused 3 gal acrylic tank with dry bedding a used tank ornament and a flat rocked I warmed up and a jar full of hot water wrapped in a towel. They perked up within 15min and already have better color and they actually moved.I got them small crickets and put a few in there with them I think they ate 1 or 2.I know I made some bad mistakes with these little guys and it still isn't up to snuff yet.Tomorrow I'm getting them a heat rock.Any input about what else they may need is appreciated.Give me heck if you want as well.

I wouldn't get a heat rock. IMO they aren't good for your geckos.
Do you have a heat lamp on the tank?

a heat lamp wont work on the cheapo plastic tank there in at the moment.from what Ive researched so far I wouldnt worry about it,but my house is chilly.room temp is about 67deg.They are lookin good at the moment there heads are up and there movements are quick. If spring would hurry the heck up I wouldnt have to worry. Thanks squirt.

Could you get a better tank for them to be in? 5.5g glass tank at least?

heat rocks are crap! They can short out and overheat easily. Get them into a bigger tank asap and get them a heat lamp. I would recommend at least a 10 gal so you are able to get a hot side and cool side. I am glad you got them perked up and feeling better. If you need to just google "house gecko care" and you will find info on what all they will need.

after being in there new house for a day and half with more warmth, they seemed to be getting better!Tonight we got back from petco with some moss bedding a water dish and a spritzer.I went to there tank and only saw 1.I pulled out the old aquarium ornament to see if he was inside it and he was wedged in a bad way.On further inspection I found him dead.He was the healthier of the 2.Im sorry for him.

I'm glad the little one is pulling through! Maybe once you get him stabilized and you have a better understanding of how to help them thrive at your house, you can get a buddy for him.

your earlier post recomending a better tank is right on,the problem is we got these fellas at the wrong time financially.I have been heating up a jar full of water and sealing it tight the I wrap it in a thin towel to use it as a warming spot for him.I want to set it up right for him and get a heat lamp, till I get a glass tank for him Ill have to keep improvising.
William:No offense taken, when i was on some of the asian pacific islands they were all over the place as well as in our barracks. They were always squeaking ,you had to be careful to not step on them!

Good idea with heating up the glass jar. Sounds like you're doing what you can for now. Good luck with the little fella!!

My son collected them in FL, brought them back to MI and let them loose in his house. I didn't know he had them and was watering his plants one day and one jumped out at me.

This was a hard lesson and I am thouroughly disgusted with myself.our last gecko died sometime today and I know they died from our negligence.I was thinking when we goy these little guys that we knew all we needed and had all the correct stuff for them .I was wrong.

I am so sorry. I know this was hard for you to go through!! I guess we never really know enough until we experience it. Do you think you'll give it another shot?

I'm sorry you lost those guys they were cute. I just read more of this thread since my origional response.
When you decide to try again I suggest maybe getting leopard gecko's. They are one of the easiest guys to keep and you do not have to spend a fortune on specialty lighting like some of the other lizards and reptiles.
Here is a great link for some info
