i'm trying to collect information on these gorgeous little fish. I've heard many contradictory things and i'm tyring to figure out what the truth is. How hard are they to keep? What environment do they need?

thanks

I keep mine is soft water with a ph of 7.4, ammo 0 nitrites 0 and nitartes never above 10 ppm as the tank is planted in..... They ate all my shrimp so you might not want to put shrimp in there. I have them with glolight tetra, dwarf panda cories, neons, dwarf gourami, and zebra danios and they are fine. Water temp around 78 degrees... They are not extremely hard to keep. Mine are doing great in my 10 gallon.

theyre easy to take care of, they like lots of floating plants to weave through.

Every killie that ive had has been trained on live crickets

how crucial is water hardness?

how crucial is water hardness?

not particularly. I keep most of my killifish in roughly neutral medium soft water, and these will certainly do fine in most non-extreme conditions. I have kept them in harder water before (before I started using an RO unit) and still got fry
