hi all,
i have a 55gal tank, fresh water with a bala shark, a barb, and a plecostimous (i know i spelled that one wrong). i bought a goby dragon, but the store failed to tell me that i had to have brackish water for it, and unfortunately it didn't make it.
i really want to have goby dragons in my tank, so my question is this: if i make the water brackish for the goby, will it hurt the other tropical fish that i have, or will they be ok in that environment?
thanks for any advice.

Yes, it would be bad for the other inhabitants. If you really want the dragon goby you'll have to set up a separate tank for BW

Ditto.
They also need fairly large tanks. A 55 is minimum for one, though you can have other fish in it.
They also tend to be placid fish, so hyperactive/aggresive fish (like sharks and barbs) aren't recommended.
They can be a little tricky to take care of, so do a lot of research before you buy the next one. Just so you know what your getting into.

I have recently been looking into dragon gobies myself. I found that they prefer a sand substrate, as they like to hide in it. They have enormous mouths and small throats, so you have to feed them smaller food than you might think. They live up to their names only in looks since they are reported to be very nicely tempered, enjoying the company of even the tiny bumblebee goby( suggested tank mates). A larger aquarium is prefered since they can grow to just over a foot in length. When healthy, they are a dark blueish purple with a golden overlay. They are a bit slow in eating, as they seem to smell their food more than see it, so they must be kept with less aggressive type eaters. Good luck.

There's always room for one more tank!
