L129 Colombian zebra pleco

I've been wanting a pleco for awhile now so Before I went to the fish store yesterday I did some reading on a bunch of different kinds that way I could be semi aware of what im buying. I came back with a L129 Colombian zebra pleco, and 9 green tiger barbs. The pleco only gets 3 inches big and is carnivorous. I wish I had a camera because it is an amazing looking fish!

But little bit fatter bodied. and A little bit thicker stripped with more black then tan

Its bands of tan are alot thicker then that, thats why I brought up that other fish. Hopefully its not misnamed.

You might want to go to planetcatfish.com (http://www.planetcatfish.com/catelog/numbers.php?mode=l&thumbs=16) and do a comparison to the pictures to see what's closest to the one you have. I hope it's not been mislabeled either, you don't want to find out you have bought a catfish that will outgrow your tank! Well, if you have, the earlier you know the better :hmm3grin2orange: Bummer you don't have a camera as I'm sure there's folks on here who could tell you for sure in a second.

This is another great case where it really makes me wish stores would list their plecs by L number. I've ordered from Exotic Finds in the past and you never have to wonder what kind of fish you get.

I was going to ask if I could put him in a 10g tank but I dont think I would want to do that anyways, expecially since I know he gets 4 to 5 inches instead of 3. Thanks everyone!!

Keep in mind that color/patterns vary among individual fish, and the light-colored markings tend to get narrower as the fish grow. A few pics of the fish would help positively ID the species.

Definetely a great looking pleco. I love plecos so much. The only problem is their bioload.

hopefully I can get a picture of him tomarrow, but I noticed that once I cleaned all of the algea off of my drift wood hes been knawing at it and he has the same exact markings as the pleco I posted a link too so I take it its one of these L169.

thanks!! hes really tearing into the driftwood now, I think before it was so covered in algea that it didnt go for it. I never wanted to clean that peice of driftwood off becuase when I would take a brush to it particals would go all over the tank, and it has a slate peice that is under the gravel and I didnt want to sturr the gravel up. Finally I took that sucker out and gave it a good cleaning!!

Nice looking fish, I never see anything like that available locally. (I'd have some if they were.) Even common BN's don't turn up very often, mostly it's monsters-to-be that will outgrow most tanks, or the clown pleco's.
