Very nice pics of your bn's!
Excellent. I find it hard to get good pictures through the glass and water. Those are good. And the BNs are so cute. I love them. :o)

Thankies! The water is usually actually a weak tea colour, as my driftwood is still leaking tannons after over 3 months! I'm not gonna get it out though :P It had a W/C the day before though, so it looks clear lol

Great picture!! Thanks for sharing

makes me want to get one, again..
Was having doubts after looking at THIS rather ugly female..
03-30-2008, 02:08 AM
LOLOL! Thanx Elli and Doug!
Doug u should definately get 1... or more! I hav 3 and they are my sweetharts. They hav so much character!
03-30-2008, 02:11 AM
I will.. :)
There's a breeder that has some high-fin varieties..
I'll probably stick to one, as my bottom's sounding crowded as it is (I'll know mnore when I actually have a tank filled with water, let alone fish LOL)
03-30-2008, 02:19 AM
Mine aren't really bottom dwellers. Mine are usually always on my driftwood in pure view, on the rock or shell and most of the time on the glass :P
Doug believe me.... U will be nowhere NEAR overstocked LOL
03-30-2008, 02:53 AM
Driftwood, etc. still counts as the bottom.. :)
And yeah, I'm probably being over-cautious..
I'll check my readings after I get all the fish on my want list..
If my nitrates aren't climbing much after my weekly water changes I'll look at adding 10 more Cardinals , and then after that if I'm still ridiculously in the clear, maybe 4 more corys of the same type as the originals, and another BN..
Time will tell..

doug your tank is gonna be perfect you have set it up so well and its just perfect!! its good to see someone spending so much time into having the ideal aquarium for their fish

I don't regret my decision to wait until my 6 week vacation ends to begin my great experiment, as it HAS forced me to spend the time making sure I have covered all my bases..
There is still much that can go wrong.. :)
But hopefully I'll be better prepared than some, and I have an excellent resource in all of you!
Hopefully my pictures turn out as well as Demi's!!

Nice pics, I like BN.
May I ask a question? I haven't seen any one from Australia post a pic of an albino BN, are they unavailable? just curious
03-30-2008, 08:09 AM
Doug, I have a question for you. You say that the pic you put up is of your female BN. I thought only males got the bristles that yours is showing? Just curious!!
I will put up a couple of my pics when I get my replacement camera. My favourite one is getting bigger and bigger. I left the tank to my neighbour when I went away for 4 days, & I swear to God he doubled in size by the time I got back. I was amazed. Now I have bought him 3 more buddies.
Sorry to go off the subject of your own BN, Demi, your one looks great btw. They really do
03-30-2008, 08:40 AM
=) Thanx all!
I have some more BN pics on the way so stay tuned! I'll probably add another in my next post! =D

Here are sum more that I'm very proud of =) :19: :19:
03-30-2008, 09:29 AM
Nice!! They are about the same size as my ones. They are class, I love those fish!!
03-30-2008, 05:14 PM
Ghostknife, I could be wrong on that count..
But I have read that females DO have barbels, just shorter, and not as proliferent as the males..
This one seemed atypical of other BN's that I've seen, as far as the barbels are concerned, so I assumed it's a female..
Like I say, I could be wrong..
I'm no expert on them, that's for sure.. :)
03-31-2008, 08:09 AM
Either way Doug, it is indeed an ugly looking one at that!! lol.
I am only messing!! I think they are all pretty spectacular looking!
03-31-2008, 10:04 AM
LOL. I adore the look of my sweeties = )
I wanna get an albino one to add to my mix soon XD LOL
03-31-2008, 07:03 PM
Yeah, I'm thinking an albino would be easier to spot, with my dark substrate..
Hopefully more golden than white..
