I have found a new fish that I want to set up a tank for. They are called
Pundamilia nyererei "Anchor Island" They are a cichlid out of Lake Victoria.
I have found a supplier in Canada out of Winnipeg.

WOW, what a cool looking fish! When are you getting some?

03-28-2008, 12:22 PM
I have to do some fish juggling first so I am not sure. I just might have to pick up another tank for them lol. Hopefully in a couple of weeks.

03-28-2008, 12:24 PM
Are they mouth brooders?

03-28-2008, 12:29 PM
They are mouth brooders, I might be able to put them in my 90 gal malawi tank, as I have thinned it out some. I will have to do some more home work first tho.

Very very nice. Gotta love those Rift Lakes, they have got some of the most beautiful fish in the world living in them. The crazy part about it is they are probably one of the harshest environments for FW fish in the world.

That's one sweet lookin' fishy!

Wow, you like to live dangerous. LOL

Fish, I know what you mean. I had a rift lake tank at one time and I still want another one again. It will be smaller this time.

Looks similar to the flameback Hap's, though I haven't seen any of those for a few years. I've seen some pics of Victorian fish that were absolutely stunning. The only catch is, only the dominant male in breeding color looks so good, and only for a short time. Or at least so I've been told, never kept any myself. I'd set up another tank for those if necessary.

That's a beautiful fish.... I just read they were endangered. That's a real shame.

Aggressive little territorial bugger from the sounds of it.... but, it's a cichlid so what else is new? :)

that is about the only one i didn't go get yet i probably will buy them for my stepfather it's a wish fish for me too.

Congrats on the long-awaited new additions. Now you just need to figure out how to ship them to the USA so I can get some fry after they spawn...

09-05-2008, 05:24 AM
Congrats on the new fish Sailor! I found some Astatotilapia latifasciata (zebra obliquidens) at a LFS. They are similar to sp. 44. I got 2 males and 2 females (all they had left). My daughter has my camera but I'll try to get it back to get some pics(rollin my eyes here).

One of the most frustrating things about fishkeeping is seeing a gorgeous fish, then not being able to find any. If/when you do eventually come across the fish either you won't have tankspace, or it will be the last one and you'll spend another lifetime trying to track down suitable mate/s.

09-12-2008, 04:56 AM
Got the camera back but I'll start a new thread so as not to hijack you, Sailor;)
