If I got this light for my 10g tank, would I have to buy a new bulb for it?

I dont think so the 1 SunPaq SmartPaq Lamp should be adequote for your tank.

your getting 4 wats a gallon! Need high light plants!!
I am sure someone else has good advice though good luck :thumb:

If it's a freshwater tank, then, yeah, probably. Actinic light doesn't do anything for plants, so you'd only get half the effective output.

I'd try to find one with 40w of "white" light, 6700-10000K.

I have that exact light sitting in my closet since I upgraded to a dual bulb version. I would follow what sasquatch said, for freshwater get a daylight bulb in the 6700-10000 kelvin range. If it's saltwater then the light is fine as is because the actinic light is needed for corals.
