I have a 100 gallon saltwater tank doing well with a variety of nice specimens in it: yellow foxface, tomato clown, caribbean flounder, striped puffer, lunare wrasse, niger trigger, another large puffer, gold stripe grouper, and blue spotted (peacock) grouper. Just added a smaller 3-inch v-tail grouper five days ago, and he got badly chased by the lunare and attacked by the blue spot grouper. The next day I put him into an isolation enclosure within the tank, but he looked pretty shocky and I thought he would die, but the next day he actually ate some mysis shrimp and looked a lot better. He wouldn't eat the next two days so I let him back into the general tank after rearranging all the rock and coral, but the lunare and the bluespot immediately began chasing him. He can hide from the much larger blue spot, but the lunare, although significantly larger than the v-tail, seems to be able to chase him out of his hiding places, where he then gets attacked by the blue-spot. I've been trying to figure out a cave that would help him, and the best thing I've come up with is a sterilized/cleaned beef marrow bone that I bought for my dog, still in it's wrapper. The marrow cavity appears to be of a size that would really allow the v-tail to hide from the lunare. I don't think the bone would demineralize any faster than coral, which, like bone, is composed of calcium salts, but I want to know if anyone has any experience with this or any information about it (I wouldn't leave it in for long...just a month or two until the v-tail got bigger and acclimated).

Never heard of it but I feel bad for the little guy that he needs to spend his life in hiding. He will probably die of stress.
