We've got a few orange platies in our 30 gallon aquarium, along with four neon tetras, a few ghost shrimp, and a plecostomus. For whatever reason, one by one, platies seem to be dying off, and we can't figure out why!
One platy (and only one) will begin swimming at gravel-level. It doesn't go much higher than that. Pretty soon, the affected platy will stay at gravel level. Within a few days, it'll get incredibly skinny. Movement is reduced to some jerking, but that's about it. A day or two later, the platy will die, a new platy will be affected, and the cycle begins again. No other type of fish is affected. Three fish have died from the same problem, one after another, but never at the same time.
Any ideas? We're running low on our favorite fish!
