So, I was looking at my tank today, and I noticed something large and shrimp like being tossed around by the power head. My first that was, "Dangit, my shrimp died". I haven't lost a fish in forever, so it kinda got my goat. Anyway, I fished it out of the tank, and looked at the body. I didn't see any mass to it at all, it just looked like the skeleton, so I thought my Purple Psuedochromis must have had a snack. Maybe the snails.

Then I remembered, shrimp molt. So I looked behind the LR, and sure enough ,there is the shrimp sitting in the back. He just molted. Looks like I'm doing a good enough job to get him to molt. He's a growing boy!

My Coral Banded Shrimp has molted about 5 times in the last 2 months. I got surprised the first time it happened to me as well.

I once had the same thing happen to me with a freshwater bamboo shrimp, lol.I saved the shrimp shell after drying it out.

They will molt an awful lot when they are young growing big... I would leave the molt in the tank... Filled with Calcium they will eat it up....

I saw one of my ghost shrimp eating another ghost shrimp the other day, and I about flipped out!! I looked a little closer, though, and realized that he was just eating his molt. lol
