I have got a little problem, Today I lifted the top of my tank up to see if the heater was on behind my BTN background.. I was VERY surprised to see 50 or more little zebra danio fry free swimming behind there !!!!
Now, I'm not really sure how to go on with this.. Obviously I need to get them out... But the only other tank I can get is a little 10L "gold fish" bowl my Ex girlfriend has. It has under gravel filter with it.. I know it is small But would it be possible to use that for the fry ?

I'm not sure how I'm even going to get them out from behind the background. I can't use a net, there isn't enough room. Could I use the gravel vacuum ?

The only way I can see they have got behind there is through the intake that is in the background lol

Any advice would be great.

I think I will be having more very soon.. It looks like they have been spawning again this morning ! HELP !!

Regards

Tony.

I would use a siphon

Try and suck them up with your gravel vac.

The 10L "shrimp" bowl will work in a pinch until they are big enough to be released back into the tank. Or you could spread it out and put half your fry in the bowl and the rest in a spare bucket (clean of course) if you have one.
I wouldn't even attempt to use the UGF. You can get a sponge filter for under $5 that would be much better. Or pick up an AC 20 and put a sponge over the intake.

If the fry made it this far they may be able to survive in the long run. If you keep your fish well fed and maybe throw some hornwort of java moss in there.

Maybe put up a tank divider so you don't have to move them to another tank? Also congrats on the fry!

Halelorf, they are behind the background lol

I also read somewhere (but can't find it anymore ) that you can put a lettuce leaf in a glass jar, pour boiling water in the jar and let cool. Then place in direct sunlight for a couple of days until the water turns cloudy. Then draw of the water and feed the fry with it. There is supposedly microorganisms in the water that they will eat. Anyone done this, anyone seen it ?
I have crushed fake food into a fine powder and put some of that behind the background. I have watched some of them eating that !

Here's a pic.

My friend has a (is it a breeding net) fine net around a plastic cage that hangs from the side of the tank, would that be better than the bowl ?
I then don't need to worry about water changes or the temp as the temp is the same as they are in now and the same water ??
I have also put an air stone behind the background.

The net will work until they get too big for it.
