I'm going to be switching to a canister filter because my biowheel seems to be slowly kicking the bucket.

Does that one look like a good one? I can't remember if it's the one somebody recommended to me awhile back, but I'm pretty sure it is. I just want to make sure I get a good one that will do a good job. It'll be going on my 10g, which is pretty heavily planted now and has the fish listed in my signature. What do you think? Has anybody ever used products from "Rapids"?

I think that would be fine on a 10 gallon..... It just hangs there. That actually looks like a great filter. They have biomax just loaded in there which would be great. That would cut down the surface aggitation too. You have it planted so that will keep the co2 in the tank.

Yeah. I like that it can hang on the back of the aquarium. I don't have any room really to put the filter if it doesn't hang on the tank because I just have it sitting on my dresser. So, the hanging part is a major plus.

That does llok good. I think that would be perfect for your 10gal Ellen.

Or should I go with an Eheim?

I'm so nervous about getting a new filter. I've only had a biowheel - even back in highschool when I knew nothing about what I was doing. lol

The Eheim is more expensive, but would it be better in the long run? Could I do more with it than the other?

Ellen, the Eheim cannisters are all a bit too much for your tank, especially the Classic line. The smallest of those is rated for 60gal. The Ecco line of Eheims are for smaller tanks but non of them goes quite that low. I'd stick with the original choice.

This looks like the same one and a bit cheaper. Drfostersmith is pretty good but usually bigals has the cheapest price on things and I always check there first. [Only Registered Users Can See Links.] Good luck with the filter!

I think your first choice in the mini cannister is a good 1 Ellen. Go for it.

I believe Cocoa Pleco has/had a canister filter similar to the one in your first post. You want to PM him to double check.

Another filter you may want to look at is the Fluval 105 ...

... I'm looking at getting one for a 10g planted tank project I'm planning.

If you ordered from bigals they ship very quickly. They ship out of Buffalo, NY I think for me and once I get my confirmation it's usually 2-3 days and I get my stuff :19:.
