Is it necessary to cycle a planted tank?

I'm reading conflicting info on the web. I cycled my first planted tank, and I have no problems with it.

I'm starting my second tank now, is it ok to introduce a small number of fish at a time?

Of course, if your tank is cycled you may add fish but no overstocking.

PLanted tanks cycle very fast due to the bacteria on their leaves from the LFS. The owner of mine down the road says he can cycle a tank in 5-7 days without pure ammonia just tons of plants! and some fish and your off. But i have no idea how he does this.... Its all he does.

if you really heavily plant the tank you can add some fish from the start, because the plants will take in the ammonia making it safe for the fish

Lots of plants tho not just one or two. And a few fish at a time, not a bunch of them. And keep in mind that a larger tank gets far less toxic than a smaller tank.

I'd cycle any tank you set up. It just starts the tank off right and allows for less problems later.
