I just wanted to let everyone know that you can embed Youtube and google videos in forum posts here at AC. This allows members to view the video directly on our site instead of having to go to youtube.
To embed such as this one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1p0626dye8w into the forum you simply use the youtube tag and write yt in brackets []. than you write the number after the = in the youtube url. In this case 1p0626dye8w and then you write /yt in brackets.
It should then look like this ["yt]1p0626dye8w["/yt] (without the " signs that I wrote to make sure that the forum displays the coden.
If you use this code the result is this:
1p0626dye8w
I personally think this is much better than having to go to youtube to watch the video and I would urge people to use this function when they post youtube videos.
If you want to post google videos you do it in the same way but use the tag gv instead on yt

you need to look at the url link in Youtube for this video..
Then you type: [.yt]the code here[./yt] <--without the . before yt
The link is: http://www.youtube.com/v/8sx7nJqswq0
So your code is the last part of the url link = 8sx7nJqswq0
Enter that between the above brackets and it should show no problem
8sx7nJqswq0
Hope this helped...

I have video of my betta Nova doing his "spazz dance" in his tank, but it's not YouTube. Is there any other way to post video here?

[gv] tags work for Google Video, otherwise you'll have to simply supply a link or grab an account at Youtube or Google.

I am trying to do this, so where do you do all this entering of codes? I tried to copy & paste the url originally (downloaded my Angelfish video to Youtube, did the copy & paste thing, got an invalid file message, didn't work), sent a PM to Lady Hobbs asking for help, & she sent me this info, only problem is, I'm not tech-savvy, so could you spell it out for me step-by-step, as I really want to learn how to do this. Its probably very easy to do, just never did anything like this before

You would enter the link to the video here, in the body of the post, edit the link as described and it would come up as imbedded once you did the edit.
You can preview your post to make sure it's correct before posting.

There a way to post videos without hosting on google or youtube? I have mine hosted on a server.
