View Full Version : my very own tank construction

Finally I have come up with the dimensions for a tank

8mm glass should be fine I guess...
H=45 cm

It was not very difficult to decide-thats all the space left next to my PC setup
Oh yeah, its not a PC table, its more like a platform in my room that Im doubling as a PC table and also junk yard :D as there was some space around. Once the tank comes in all the junk will be hidden away.

I would like to put in a decent amount of plants(more is also acceptable)
And have not decided on the fish-will mostly be some of the below:
1. swordtails
2. guppies
3. mollies

Will update with pic once I have all the raw materials.

I started with this project with a lot of reservation. I wanted to post pics at every stage. But then after seeing the mess when I was actually working on the construction I decided to put it away till I test the tank....well, that too has happened and guess what :D no leaks :19:

Phew....this is 24"x18"x18", kind of square.

Want to have a lot of plants and some guppies, sword tails and mollies.

The forum and people here have been of great help and a massive inspiration(not exactly, the true feeling would be 'envy' :hmm3grin2orange: )

Planned to add substrate, plants and equipment and let things settle for some time before adding a couple of fish and letting the whole thing cycle before adding more fish.

(forget the dates on the images, took them today and did not set the date on my camera)
my new tank:

my fry tank-10 odd black molly frries, lost the rest :(

Swordtails get too big though... sorry...

did not know that, thought they would grow maybe 1/2 inch extra than the mollies, just checked the net and they say 10-12 cms(4-4.5 inches)

:18: i would love that :19:

i would move them or the others to a different tank when they get too big.
