Somehow over the last few weeks my girlfriend has managed to spontaniously create life in her aquarium in the form of many snails.

We have no clue as to how this could have happened as we have added nothing to the tank that could have introduced snails or snail eggs into it. Anyone that can shed some light on this for us would be greatly apreciated, thanks :D.

No fish were added or plants? When you bring fish home from the store, never add the water that come in the bag. Pour the fish into a net and then transport them to the tank after checking the net.

If you haven't added neither plants nor fish, I have NO idea of how you could have gotten them. Loaches will eat them, tho, unless you want to get over-run with them. Possibly adding some aquarium salt will help, as well.

Snail eggs can hitch a ride anywhere. As Hobbs said, loaches will eat them. They will reproduce amazingly fast and before you know it you will be overrun. Been there, done that, got a loach. Good luck.

Did she happen to use a vacation feeder block?
