Swapping substrate

Well, I got the Flourite in from Big Als the other day and I'm starting to replace my current substrate because it's riddled with limestone.

I've replaced 1/3 of the substrate yesterday, and I'm waiting for the bacteria to colonize it before changing more. I tested ammonia this morning and it was 0, a good sign.

I was planning on waiting a week. Is that long enough?

You could do the rest now, with no adverse effects, provided you keep your filter cartridges submerged.

The VAST VAST majority of the nitrifying bacteria is in the filter itself, and very little on other surfaces.
