i was thinking of getting a 125 gal aquaruim. i want it to look kinda like this- [Only Registered Users Can See Links.]

I would like it to be an amanzon-only aquarium, with the exception of siamese algae eaters, i would like a few of those:c2:

But i would want angelfish (duh), rams, discus, siamese algae eaters, and maybe a small school of some type of tetras (not sure which type, recomendations?)

would this be ok? what live plants would be good? im thinking of sword plants, java moss, and whatever hardy plants they sell at my LFS (hardy because i dont hav co2 or fertilizers) would all this be ok??

I dont acually hav the tank yet, but i would like to plan it b4 i get it

Thanx,
Alex

yeah you can put sae in with all those fish,I have 2 myself they are like tiny lawnmowers and they are the only fish that eats black brush algae.I dont recomend the discus though unless that is the main fish and not with angels. As for tetra ,diamond tetra are a good choice and are long lived.

I thought discus and angels both came from the same place? Why cant they go together? Thanx for putting up with all my questions!:19:

Discus are very timid and retiring, angels are anything but. They do share the same water needs, but they should not share a tank.Angels fish are very dominant and territorial, normally.

They wont go well with the angel tho, at least i wouldnt think, although they use the same water parameters.

If i had a spare aquarium about 100 gallons, it would have a giant center piece of driftwood, with a large java fern on each end of it, dark, maybe black substrate with about 75 cardinal tetras. the schooling would be so peaceful. . .

cardinals would be best, cardinals are a bit larger but the largest plus is theyre the only tetras immune to neon tetra disease, if you get regular neons one infected tetra can wipe out all of the fish

Noone can guaratee your plan will work out perfectly. No doubt it will take a long, long time for all of those plants to grow, and it will be quite some work. I know that when I saw a 10g planted aquarium that looked amazing, I wanted one like it, so I just bought a bunch of plants/bulbs, and they are still now grown as much as the plants in the photos I saw.I've heard that Dutch aquariusts have great planting methods, and I saw an amazing picture of a dutch 100g tank. You should look up some of the methods used by master Dutch aquariust to get started. A really high wattage of light would also be necessary for such a tank.

Your stock list would be wonderful. Those are all fish that do well in planted tanks, though the discus/angels might show some aggression towards the cardinal tetras. They could get eaten.

Here is a pic I found online of Altum angels, and a few discus together in a large, planted aquarium.

If you got the group of small tetra at the same time as the angels and if you get the angels in a juvenile state ,you will not have big issues with them trying to eat the neon/cards.I have a school of glolights and a bunch of half inch long corys that I stocked in that way,I have lost none to my angels.I have lost many neons since then trying to stock them with his lordship [the angel] !
