Two of my oscars have paired off and I took all the other fish out of the 125 gallon tank they are in. I have been waiting quite anxiously for some eggs to appear but no luck yet. I have noticed they slowed right down on there eating and the minnows I put in there have remained for two days. I have also noticed a protrusion that is new today. I assume it is the genital organs on both of them. They hover over the big flat rock in the tank and thats about it. Does anyone know if what I am seeing is a genital organ? Am I on the right track?

Their is a breeding tube on male Oscars. right below the head. If you want them to breed you have to feed them a variety of foods. A staple such as NLS or Hikari and Krill and bloodworms. Then they will most likely breed.

Use brine shrimp and flush the tank with cooler water.. If they are hovering over the flatrock they are getting ready...

Thanks for the info. I am currently feeding minnows and cichlid gold floating pellets. They don't seem to want the freeze dried blood worms. Maybe I should try frozen ones?

Yeah.. I'd recommend Hikari foods. Nls to me, seems a bit overated. Its an ok food some people have better luck than others, but Hikari is best imo, especially the Hikari Gold, and Bio-gold+ with freeze dried krill and other variety of foods.

you had best start thinking about what to do hundreds, possibly thousands of baby oscars, they are about to lay
