I'm looking for a second German Blue Ram. I don't want to raise fry . If I get a female what are the chances of them hooking up? I know it's obvious if I dont want to raise fry I should just get a male and now worries. But would my little guy do better with a female? He is still young. I'm thinkin if I put a male in with him they will be more aggressive towards each other and territorial. So, male or female for him?

Rams are descently hard to pair one on one. It is hard enough to get a good pair of parents out of 6 juveniles. With that being said it is not impossible. Just as I tell you it won't happen you'll have fry lol.....

To be honest, I think you will get fry if you get a female. IN my experience blue rams are always looking to hook up. Its weird. If you have tetras in the tank they will almost always eat the fry so you wouldnt have to worry about raising them.

Will the male become aggressive with the female?

In my experience, they can, but usually, they are more aggresive tpo the tetras and cories, which is okay beause those fish are fast enough to avoid getting hurt. But he may pick on the female. If there is plenty of hiding places in the tank, the female should be fine.

They may spawn in your tank, but the chances of any surviving fry are very low, most won't even hatch, your cories should make short work of any eggs, so you don't really have to worry about raising fry.
During breeding the agression doubles towards other species, but this shouldn't be a problem unless you have a very open tank, and your fish are very slow.

IME, it doesn't really matter if they are male or female, two rams will always be a little agressive towards each other. As long as the tank is big enough that they both have their little section of territory, they should be fine.
