I got my Rena XP1 in the mail today, that thing is a big sucker! I've got it all set up but I'm not sure if I should be using the spray bar or the power jet nozzle. Because the tank isn't full yet (super slow RO unit, taken 3 days to get almost half full) I can't test it out. Since I am planting the tank I will want minimal surface agitation. Any recommendations?

As well, if I use the spray bar I can twist it to face the back of the tank. Would this be a bad choice because it would not allow the water to flow throughout, or is it ok to do it this way to prevent disturbing plants?

I use the spray bars with my rena xps. Just put it below the surface of the water, you get better water circulation in the tank with the spray bar. On a side note, don't use all RO water in your tank. Mix it 50/50 with your tap water.

The spray bar will allow a wider pattern of water movement. I would start with it and see what you think.

Yeah I use the spray bars. It creates nice uniform water movement.

I agree....the spray bar would be a better choice in a planted tank.

I use the spray bar on my planted 58 gal.You will also want the adjustment attachment on as well.I have my spray bar at a 45deg angle point towards the surface down the lenght of the tank.Just a ripple in the surface is what you want.
