I've been on other forums that give you the option to delete your own posts. Can that be added here? I just triple posted on accident and I hate PM'ing the mods about it, especially when they have other work that they do.

its a good idea.

we're lucky we can even edit our own posts. the last forum i was on only gave you a minute to edit your post, after a minute you couldnt edit it

I will look into it. I personally like when a member can delete their threads for a limited time but not forever so they can't go back in a discussion to delete old post and try to change what they claim to have said. (as that can make it hard to moderate)

I feel that 15 minutes (if not replies are made) usally is a suitable timeframe.

I did catch your triple post and took care of it. No worries.

I like that members can delete their own posts, as well. I know in other forums I have been in, I have deleted some of mine simply because another person had already given the proper answer to a question and my post was not needed or I totally screwed up and posted something in the wrong place and wanted it corrected.

I often am deleting my own posts here due to double and triple posting. Sometimes the posts don't go thru and you wait and wait and suddenly here comes 3 of them. So, I agree with ya, Megan.

I think it's an excellant idea for the member posting to be able to delete their own message, shortly after posting it, if they're not satisfied with it. :19:

Completely agreed with the parameters you mention.

Thats what it is on another sports related message board I am on. 15 minutes to delete / edit either any post, or a new thread. After that, you are SOL, and cannot delete, nor edit your post or thread.

If I make any edits to my posts its usually before 15mins anyways but if someone has a sticky up and they wanted to edit something that might cause a problem but Ive had times before where I wrote exactly what someone else did and wanted to delete it.

I did a double post the other day and went and edited out the second post to just a few dots. But yes, I would love the "save me from my own stupidity" button that just deletes it quickly.

Members can now delete their own post up to 5 minutes after they are done. (I hope)
