The splash bar is taking up quite a bit of real estate, and should be hard to cover up with plants..
Should I have it on the back, rather than the side, and have it go down farther?
And where could I go to get some replacement tubing, so I can get it down farther (not much came with the filter)?
It'd be good if I could get some clear stuff, too..
It's 16mm and 22mm.
Home Depot? A plumbing supply store? U Brew?

really you should have it on the back towards the top, however it doesnt harm anything to be submerged. tie some java moss on the hose with fishing line and all you will see is the actual holes

Oh.. So it SHOULD be on the back?
Ok.. :)
Wouldn't the Java Moss be blown off a bit at a time, and get into my inlet?

The end is fine but it does need to be at the top of the tank.

it can go anywhere, but the back is where most people stick it
java moss clumps together, so as long as its 6" or more from the intake it will be fine

Yeah, I dunno where would be the most obtrusive..
The side, or the back...
The side I'm thinking, as at least at the back I have a better chance of covering it with plants..
I need it under the surface, of course, as I'm doing plants..
How low can I go? As low as possible would be good, but I don't want the fish getting blown about, or detritus on the surface of the substrate..

Doug, I had 2 Eheims on my tank and the returns were under the surface by about 1" and were positioned on each end of the tank.

you can have it on the very top, it wont create enough surface abruption to harm CO2

What was the pressure coming out of the splash bar like?
Another member was saying I shouldn't try to plant Cabomba beside the outlet, as the plants don't like being blown about..
How did you cover yours?
Dave wants me to get 2 filters, too.. :)

I didn't really have them completely covered. The ammania gracilis and the Rotalla did cover them to a certain extent though. You don't really want to completely hide them anyway. Hiding it will actually block flow and that's not something you want to do.

But were your plants sawying all over the place, or was it more like a gentle current?
How far from the outlet did you place them?

Gentle current. The plants moved very very little. The Ammania gracilis got right up against the return of the 2026 when I failed to trim them back

Ok, thanks..
I may end up getting 2 (oh, who'm I kidding.. probably will be getting 2)..
So might stick them at each end, with the suctions in the middle(?)..

That actually sounds like a good plan.
