Holy,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,crap!
Ive had a few of these done in the past and all without a hitch.This time was different,oh so very different!The doc shot me over 10 times with nova. and I STILL had some feeling.I felt like the top of my frikkin head was gonna come off.He said it was a "hot" tooth and hasnt had one this bad in over 2 years.Just my luck ,I get to be special!

ive never had anything like that done to me (tap wood) but im sooo sorry for you. that sounds sooo painful. :help:

The thing is,my dentist really does try to make everything as comfortable as possible,he was getting frustrated but handled it like a true pro.

I had 2 root canals done once. I can't remember what the medicene was, but it was the pain medicene that he gave me to get to the date we were set for. I took 2 of those puppies driving to the dentist. Then on top of whatever else he gave me, I'll tell you what... I didn't feel a damn thing! lol

It was probably vicoden,they dont have a big effect on me,they do kill pain but they dont make me silly or anything.Root canals have always been fairly troublefree for me,but this one was hell.

my tooth wouldn't numb up so in the end after several atempts my dentist said easiest thing to do was have the tooth pulled out!!!!!!!! and that hurt as they don't do this while you are asleep anymore,and all she was trying to do was the root canal,thumbs2:

Wow, instead of loosing the tooth guts, you lost the whole tooth?? No kidding! Your dentist knows those don't really grow back, right? lol

I feel your pain. I have had 3 root canals, 1 was a hot tooth, and 1 got redone, than finally pulled because the original dentist jacked it up. Hope they at least prescribed you some tylenol and codine. Root Canals Suck!

I was damn close to telling the dentist to yank it.I am not near man enough to get a canal done without being totally numb.He was actually shooting nova right into the tooth.The good news for me is the nova has worn off and I can eat now and I dont have any pain.Thank God.

Earlier this week I went in to have it xrayed,it was infected so they gave me antibiots and a presc for vicoden then.

Bad thing, is when I am in pain, I start swinging. So needless to say, he ended up with a black eye, and I ended up being unconscious. They, in their infinite wisdom, found it best to sedate me.

Glad it is over with and you can do things again.

lol, yeah, I hit him, pretty hard too... He hit hit a nerve or something, and I swung. It was mostly instinctive.

Yes, I still go to the same dentist, and now it is a standard order with them, that when I am in their for work on my teeth, they sedate me....Can't imagine why.:hmm3grin2orange:

Yikes! Glad to hear you're feeling better. Just imagine having 4 wisdom and 3 molars pulled, in a one hour timeframe. Consider yourself lucky!

Just an update on this root canal.
It has bothered me since the first week it was done.I went back to the doc twice and he could find nothing wrong.Over the past month I have been feeling really sick with only mild pain issues in this tooth.I finally took a stab in the dark yesterday and went and got xrays.Sure enough it was absessed to the max.Today I went to an endontist and had the canal redone [my expense of course].What took the first doc almost 2 hrs this one did in about a half hour [3 roots!}.That was at 9:30am ,the novacaine just wore off a bit ago.
