I have never been perfect.............but

The coffee shop in town got a 30 G tank in January. Maybe 10 community fish PLUS a beautiful tiger barb over 2 inches, a clown loach about 4 inches and 2 plecos of over 6 inches each. Seems a friend is expecting triplets and had to make room. I tried to tell her the tank was not big enough but she insisted having two filters would ride her through.

So I swing in today and the tank is cloudy white. Fish are gasping for air and two are dead. I ask the girl where the owner is and she tells me she is on vacation. I told her there is a problem and she explains to me that they sent water out for a test........ A test? It needs to be changed!

Uggghhhhhhh....................Family arrived minutes later and started to work on it. I left.......it shouldn't have happened.
I'm going to bed!

I imagine the SPCA is unlikely to do anything when it comes to a single 30g tank...sad, but true...

its tempting to get it, he could go in my 90g and i could use the tank as a spare but im out of room and i wouldnt trust my jag since i have some smaller fish like tiger barbs in my 90g, else i would get him

Did I misread the ad? I thought only the fish was for sale?

the title makes it sound like both but the ad itself seems like fish only

We had a jewelry in the same mall as our LFS that has setup a display for a new watch.

They had a 2g tank filled with water, with the watch in it and a goldfish. No filtration, no aeration and cloudy water. Thankfully the display didn't last more than a week or two. Probably figured out that cloudy water would make their $500 stink!

Sad to hear, fish need a beautiful clean environment!

and we are happy to give them what they deserve since they arent out exploring the real world!

Yeah it's sad... And it's infuriating because it's happeming again and again...
Some LFS don't even know about cycle or about the minimum requirement for a fish...
Last time, I ask one of them for stocking our 5gal... You know what? She said to me : you can put 5 or 6 barbs in there, they're good to cycle and very hardy.
............!!!!!!!!!!
5 barbs in a 5gal?????????

I don't know where the problem come first but I know it's a two entry problem :
- the people at some LFS : knowing nothing or caring more for their sell than for the wellbeing of the fish they sell... Or acting like stupid to be sure people come again...
- people who buy fish without reading first and asking question : I know, I was one of them... And when it's too late, then your realize you've made a mistake...

But it's never really us who paid for our mistake... It's our fish...Oh yeah it hurt to loose them and have to buy another one (and some will find this part more hard than loosing the fish)...
But the fish? it has no escape, no way to go away of a bad tank... it's him who suffocate by ammonia or suffer by ick and so on...

That's why I'm trying to give them the best, because they never ask to come their... And then we have a responsability for them!!!
