The hornwort that was once barely covering a corner of my 10 gallon last week has exploded in growth and now covers three/quarters of the right side of my tank. Is this normal?????

Absolutely. Hornwort loves hard water, it's native to Lake Malawi. :) It thrives in liquid concrete. :) In low light it will string out and in higher light it will bush up but in either case it grows exteremly quickly.

I got two compact flourescent 15 watt colormax bulbs in there.....

I will move some to my cycling 55 gallon if it keeps going lol...

Can I clip it and throw it in the 55 gallon without it dieing (spelling lol)?

Yup, just clip it and toss it. The stuff grows like a weed in hard water. BTW, the leaves have a compound in them that actaully is an algae inhibitor. It doens't necessarily prevent the algae in the tank but it helps keep it off the plant.
