What do you use the most??? Or prefer the most???
If you have 7 tanks 3 plastic 4 glass you should answer glass.

I use nothing but glass tops when I can. I have a 10gal that has the plastic on it and I hate it but replacing it is not a priority. I live the versatility the glass top gives for lighting.

all of my tanks are open top besides my 90g which has a custom glass top.
i hate plastic tops, they only fit standard crummy incandescent or fluorescent lights, few allow for PC's or T-5's

I have been eyeing thoseglass canopies, but I like the plastic hoods more. Only because I've never had a glass canopy, and am used to plastic hoods. I was thinking about getting a canopy on my next tank.
Another reason why I use a hood is that a glass canopy can be broken more easily, and they seem more fragile.

I hate the glass tops because on smaller tanks like my 10 or my 29 the the hings is like right in the middle of the where the light sits and I have a dark bar that goes across my tank in the water cuz it's a little area that doesn't get light.
I am thinking of getting some plexi glass and using that as my top from now on.
I would love an open top tank but my clown jumped out once and ever since I have been scared.

my glass tops dont have any hinges, i figured hinges would be a pain so i just got regular sheets of glass
Glass top for me. I don't like the plastic hoods, too many limitations with lighting and they look to bulky. I like the streamlined look. I also don't like the big wooden covers that go over the tops of many tanks, takes away from the tank itself IMHO.
Presently, I have a glass top on my 29g with a Coralife T5 light strip. 2 of my 10g tanks have the standard plastic hood, but they will be replaced eventually. The one thing that really annoys me with the 10g hoods is that they are complete pieces, so you have to take the whole thing off to clean the tank or if you need to stick your hand in the tank.
One of the 10g's will have a glass top with a nice mini PC light strip and the other will be an open top with a mini LED system. Hopefully I'll have those modifications done by summer.
My 29g BioCube has the stock canopy, not much I can do about that, so I'm not to worried about that.
The worst hoods I find are the plastic canopy with the biowheel filters built in. Nice idea, but waaaaaaaay too many limitations of lighting and filter options.

On all my bigger tanks I have the glass lids which I think are great. On the 3 smallest tanks we have the plastic canopies. I eventually want to switch these to glass as well.
