Hi,
I heard polyfil, the stuff u stuff pillows with was good as a filter material. I think is was Lady Hobbs who said she uses it. I bought a bag at WallyWorld for a couple bucks and was wondering where exactly do u use it in the filter. I have an Emperor 400 for my 46 gallon. Do i just cram it into the front part, which would be the last thing the water hits before it goes back into the aquarium?

If you are not using the extra media baskets that come with the Emperor 400 you could stuff it in there. I've not heard of using it mujch with HOBs (I suppose you could) but I have heard of many many people using it in Canister filters.

I would say use the polyfil right after the main debris catchering the filter. I've never had an Emperor 400, but I will use an Aquaclear as an example. It has sponge then carbon (if a person wants) then bio-media. I would put the polyfil after the sponge and before the carbon or bio media. That is what I plan to do when I get around to getting polyfil.

Poly fill would be difficult to use in a hob.Even with the media baskets. It would restrict water flow and likely the water would just by pass the filter by flowing over it.it does work great in a canister filter though and I use it for a polisher.
