Ok, since Melafix is an antibacterial agent, does it kill beneficial bacteria? I have a 5 gallon I'm using as a quarantine/hospital (depending) tank (I have small fish). It's cycled, but does treating new or sick fish with Melafix mess up my bacteria? I'm already thinking that I should probably be doing 20% water changes daily so the tea tree oil doesn't build up too much.

No, just bad bacteria.

The melafix and primafix do not harm your bennificial bacteria. Hold off on your water changes for a week from the first treatment. Then add carbon to your filter to take out excess meds.
