You could have some Tanganikan or Malawian. I have a 30g for my Malawians. You don't need to get Frontesa as they get HUGE.

You do have some options, but as stated Frontosas are not one of them. There are articles in my blog on peacocks and mbunas if you want to check that out.

34g would be a nice size for a few Tanganiykan shell dwellers. Great little fish and absolutely fascinating to watch.

Most you would be good with here would be Lake Tang.../Malaw. The frontosa get a foot big so they are not a great option... Try some Melanchromis johanni or auturus, demasoni, electric blues, electric yellows....

If I had a 34g... I wouldn't go with a mixed bunch of cichlids. I would go with a single species tank for mbuna or maybe 2 specieis. 2 ft is really small for them. If you like those rusty cichlids... go with those. I love my rusty! And they only grow to 3-4" tops. If you decide to get another species... make sure it is as peaceful.. to match the rusty temporment. Not auratus or demasoni.

Another vote for no frontosa.
