Does anybody do this ? I read about someone doing this on another forum because they say it keeps it fresher for longer. Is there any benefit to doing this ?

It should obviously be kept dry. I would think it might hold moisture in the ref. I also think we would be instructed to store it in this manner if it was the right way of doing things.

When I buy the 5 lb buckets of nls I break it down into smaller air tight containers and freeze most of it. Keeping out about a months supply at a time. I have had no problems with this method.

The fridge is one of the best ways to keep fish food fresh. The things that spoil food are light, heat, air, and moisture. So use an air-tight container, keep moisture out, do not sit it on top of your warm lights, and don't leave clear containers in the light.

We keep all of our fish food either in the fridge or the freezer.

We like to feed a variety of food, but with a 10g and a 5g, we don't go through the food very quickly. I've kept flake and pellet food in the fridge for a very long time without it going bad.

I can picture it now, Algenco's refrigerator full of worms, crickets, grubs, flakes and granules, flies and skeeters.......haha.

I was off base here, apparently. Solly!

Sorry to interject a question in this thread, but where can you find large quantities of NLS like that?

Online, or special order from your LFS that carries NLS.
