i added coral rock to my frontosa tank a week ago and now its growing brown hairy stuff on it .is it good or bad?? peremeters are fine and only natrual light light but no direct sun in tank.

brown algae is a sign of too little lighting, or youre behind in water changes. good thing about brown algae is its easy to scrape

Brown thread and tuft algae can come in when ph is too low. You might want to check the ph and see if it needs to be raised.

Is it very hard to physically remove? If it is it could be the dreaded brush algae. Sianensis or Siamese algae eaters (Flying fox) is the best fish to use for it.

If you do have brush algae we can talk more. This is the worst plague IMO a freshwater tank can have.

Thast werid because i have my lights on for about 14 hours a day and i have brwon algae on the rocks and the glass. I've read somegwere that it usually comes in newly established tanks.

It could also come from excess silicates from some cheaper substrates, and sand as well. best to just keep removing it.
