This tank was just dragged out of the garage and into my loft tonight. I spoke with a women who is selling about 15-20 demosonite's and will be picking them up on wednesday. That is if the tank is stable by then. I am planning on using biospira for the fist time. Anyone ever try this stuff yet? It guarantees the price of replaceing the fish if the tank doesn't cycle in 24 hours.

If you can also jumpstart the filter on another tank and use mulm from another tank, I think you'll be fine. Those two plus bio-spira should allow you to put them in pretty quickly.

Do you mind me asking how much you are paying....if anything....for the demasoni? Hubby found them for $18/piece for awhile, and then lucked into a breeder selling for $6/piece....we now have 3 young juveniles and at least 1 newbie in the tank that mama has given us!

Well the lfs has juveniles for $12-15 each. I am getting about 20 for $2 each from a local source and they are 1.5-2" each but if there are too many males I will be getting less fish fish for obvious reasons. She is advertising them for $3 each but will give me a discount if I buy all of them. You should check and see if they post "for sale" in your area. The link is

P.S. If your hubby has any advice on breeding demasonites I'd really appreciate it.

He didn't do anything special....you saw the pic with the rock formations of his tank I posted last month for TOTM...uses the PH raising substrate and in my opinion isn't all that great with maintenance. They did it by themselves! In a tank of africans at that.

Alright it is up and going. Got the demasoni today. 15 for $30. Great deal if you ask me. Especially since my LFS will buy them from me for $5. Here is some pictures. Sorry they aren't the greatest. I am waiting for kimmers to give me some lessons. I am having problems trying to get the blue in them to show. Oh well. Just click on the picture and away you go!

The only "lesson" I can give on taking great photos is lots of them, and patience! It takes fish awhile to get used to the flash that gets to them, and the fact that someone is near the tank. I usually get right up on the glass and use my macro setting. What type of camera did the video?

Just my digial camara. It has a video function. That's why it is such a poor quality. I'll try my macro setting tonight. What speed of exposure do you use and flash speed?

I generally just use the auto or sports function...but with sports setting I can't use macro. Every once in awhile I start messing around with the settings but it isn't something I have grasped too well. If I had the time to play with my camera everyday I would be able to catch on better, but since my auto function works quite well I just haven't spent enough time messing around with it.

I understand. On my digital though when I switch to the macro setting i have to set up some perimeters. There is not a auto macro on my camara. When I try sports settings i get really blurry pictures.
