How much gph should I try to get on a water pump to connect a 10g and a 29g?

They both have filters on them, AC70 on the 29g and a cheap Wal-Mart filter on the 10g.

Does anybody have any experience with Lifetech Aquarium Water Pump or Via Aqua Aquarium Water Pump?

Is this for a sump-like operation?

Yes, sump like action.

Well, what is your overflow rated for?

I haven't gotten one yet.

That is where I would start.

Get your overflow, and find its GPH, and then chose a pump a bit lower than the listed GPH on the overflow. That will give you a bit of a margin of error on either product, that could save you the stress of overflowing your sump/tank.

How easy is it to make a DIY overflow?

Well, it depends on your mechanical abilities I guess.

I think I remember seeing a DIY on [Only Registered Users Can See Links.] but I can't remember. I'll look in a second.

I do know that JimPierce made one. He should be on some time tomorrow. Maybe he can help you out with that.

Are there any pumps that you are looking at/considering?

EDIT: I found the link for the overflow:

That is the cheapest one I can find. I don't know if you live in the states or not though.

Thank you Drumachine09 and cocoa_pleco.

Looking at Lifetech Aquarium Water Pump or Via Aqua Aquarium Water Pump.

Found them cheap on eBay, wondering if they even worth wasting my time looking at. I'm trying to get this sump like connection going as cheap as possible. Poor college student here.

See if you can find an aquarium retailer on Ebay. Look for Aloha Aquariums. They do good business. They might have both that you are looking for, and can ship them together.

Would I be able to make a DIY overflow box out of an old HOB? If so, any ideas or websites I could go to?

Yay... I finally got myself a water pump of eBay. Its probably not the best brand, but I figure its worth a try. Once I get, the tests will begin to see if I can get it setup without an overflow box for now.
