How about a contest of totm of 50 gallons or more, and then another for 50 gallons and less?

Hard for someone that has a 10 gallon competing against say, a 120 for instance.

Just a thought.

I understand what you mean but I think you could make a 10g look just as good as a 125g. Just usually people dont put as much time or money into the smaller tank.

we had a thread on this in early 2007, theres plenty of 10g's that outcompete a 120g in awesomeness

How about a Saltwater TOTM and a freshwater TOTM then? It can be hard to judge a beautiful planted 150 gallon freshwater against a beautiful 150 gallon saltwater one.

I've won second place with a 10G so it is possible... there are loads of smaller tanks nicer than larger... it is not the size it's the content <that kind of sounds dirty>

It is hard to beat a beautiful saltwater though... they are always the most beautiful :1luvu: :1luvu:

Many 10 gallons are amazing.
Just people that start 100 gallons+ usually have more experience and they're tanks look better, regardless of what size they decide to make them.

I haven't seen many SW tanks entered in TOTM. I think there won't be enough entries in the SW section if we decide to divide them like that.
Just my opinion.

yeah, SW would be bare, not too many people here have reefs

Yes this has been suggested before, and as Cocoa said, competition between small and large tanks is not an issue, a few times 10g tanks have outdone 100+ tanks.

Besides, there is a lot of work in the comps, and at this stage adding extra is out of the question.

I agree with most above. I am in the process of setting up a 29 and it will have a better chance of winning TOTM then my 150G ever will.
