Easy, remove 2 of them.

Bear in mind, any other gourami that you put in there will get picked on by the gold gourami.

They are really aggressive fish.

iwas considering that, but only as a last resort. for the record, i have two female and one male.

ps: is it normal for the smallest female to be the dominent one or is it just weird?

all gouramis can be agressive( though i have to admit i am very lucky with all mine as they arent even with all the different breeds of gouramis in there) and yes the female are just as bad as the males
i think it is just weird that the smallest one is more agressive, but like it was said above take out 2 of them or you could remove 1 of the females and see what happens,
or start a new tank and leave him with his tank

i have a 12cm kissing gourami and was told it would be highly agressive and have put it into the 4ft (see sig) and nothing no agression nothing he even gives me a kiss through the glass

It's suppose that you should keep them in quantities of 4 or more so that none of them will have territorial or dominance issues.

How long have they been in your tank??? Did you add them all at once?

My gouramis also pick on each other, but they have never hurt each other. Maybe yours only need some days to get use to each other.
