i used to breed plecos and they were the same size

however, i currently have a 5-6" common pleco, i found someone on a ad tearing down a tank and one fish is a 9.5" common pleco, $10 with free delivery

providing ones male/female, can they still breed with the 4" size difference?

yep, as long as they are mature. It's common for males to be much larger than females

cool.

is there any other way to sex them?

most but probably not all can be sexed by head shape. When viewed from above males have broader heads with more rounded snouts, females have a more pointed head and are broader in the midsection

she said my place was a bit out of her way so i said i would pay $10 for gas

she said if its one trip, why not get more fish?

i ended up getting

1 9.5" pleco- $10
3 baby bala sharks- $20
7 tiger barbs- $5
transport- $5

it all comes tomorrow, thank god for the 650g coming!

I just bought a small Pleco and it is doing great in a 10g tank. How big will it get and is it true that they will grow to the size of the tank and surroundings that it is in?

noo!! fish keep growing even if you keep them in too small of a tank. It may stunt their growth but the keep growing. your looking at 2 foot long if it is just a common pleco(probibly is). 10g is way too small.

common plecos get over a foot and need a 150g.

They will get stunted growth in a 10g, but that takes over half of their lifespan away and they will get sick

please take that poor fish back or get a giant tank. Trust me most of us has done the same thing you just learn from your mistakes and keep going.

she emailed me, shes happy im taking 80% of the fish shes selling since she needs their tank ASAP for a snake, she ended up taking $40 for the pleco, barbs, balas, and transport

the other fish were 2 kissing gouramis and a 6" pleco, but with the new fish im pushing the 90g to the limit. 650g is a for sure though.

she said around 8pm, and i thought she meant tomorrow night, she meant tonight.

the pleco is huge, and the balas are actually 6". the largest seems to have a cloudy eye but im sure it will heal on its own
