My kenyi had babies. I decided to move my malawis into the new 55. So while my sister in law and I were cleaning out their old tank. My sister in law found 18 baby kenyi. We quickly got them out and put them in a 5g for now. As they grow I can move them to a 10g. My sister in law is going to take some. We were in shock to see babies swimming around the bottom of the tank, but very happy. :1luvu: thumbs2: :41:

Congrats! Way cool! They are gonna be sooooo cute! What size tank did you have them in when they were born and how many adult males and how many adult female kenyi do you have?

bad news some my babies didn't make it.
They were born in a 55. I did have 18, but I took them out and put in a 5. I don't know what happened. I have 4 females and 2 males. I know it's not the right rational. It's suppose to be 1 male for every 3 females. They'll be more. I think that was only the first batch.

Thanks for the answer todaie12. Sorry you lost some little ones but I'm sure you'll get more. I was trying see what size tank or tanks you have because I'm using a 55g. and have another 55g. not in use but really thinking about getting a 75g. too, then running the 75g. & one 55g. unless it turns out I won't be able to get a 75g. then I'll just start up the other 55g. too.

So you moved your malawis from one 55g. into a new 55g.? Are you going to keep them both running?

I have a 44 corner tank, a 55 and a 20. Up and running right now. For some reason my mbuna did not like the 55. They all stayed huddled in one corner. So I moved them to the 44 and they love it. Their out and swimming and digging out caves. They mush like the deeper tank. The fish I had in the 44 are now in the 55 and are doing well.

Thanks for the answer. That's so strange. I was always told that deeper is a waste of space for mbuna because they stay low in the tank. I know they do say to overstock mbuna. Maybe they had to much room and floor space in the 55g. What is your stocking list and numbers on them? I hope you don't think I'm being a pain. I'm just trying to learn lol.
