Do a water change and dose the tank with something that removes chemicals like aquasafe....
Are there any liquids coming out???

It's going to be okay, Mom o'Three.
Listen to cocoa. And look for the glass, that would be my worry. But UNPLUG the dang thing before you stick your hand in the tank!
I'm pretty sure manufacturers take these things into consideration when making thermometers.
Ignore italics. I was thinking heater. <smacking self in forehead>

They stopped putting mercury and such in them a long time ago for reasons such as this mishap.

Anyone remember playing with the little drops of mercury? Man, it was fun when the thermometers broke...
New thermometers use alcohol.. I assume that's what is in the aquarium thermometers.

It is probably dyed galinstan... It is very low in toxicity. Aquasafe and water change should pull it out if any is in water Cathy...

Anyone remember playing with the little drops of mercury? Man, it was fun when the thermometers broke...
one of my old chemistry teachers, who is like 70 now, told me how when he was a kid he got containers to play with mercury in
to prevent thermometer smashing i only use digital thermometers now

I use digital also and went to titanium heaters due to my Oscars joy of breaking the glass ones...

I do! So fun! Never did wash my hands after. Maybe that's what my problem is - mercury poisoning!

Just checkin' in... How's it goin'? Finny kids doing okay?
If you don't need the Aquasafe - and it sounds like you don't. Don't use it. Why use chemicals when you don't need to?

yeah, aquasafe isnt needed, just a 30% water change

It would just pull any traces minerals out but from the post I don't think anything made it in the tank..... Water change should do it...

For the short term just to be certain there is no toxins introduced put some charcol in your filter it should pick up any odd stuff.
