Help! I dont know what to get. I have a 33 gal and I want some fun, interesting, some big, some small, fish! All I know is I want some corys and neon tetras! and a otto or two...and I like angel fish but would they be too aggresive???
Bobo the Clown Loach

Dwarf gouramis and maybe a clown loach would be the biggest I would put in that tank. Killis are also really neat and easy fish but will try to eat smaller fish and shrimp. I have 2 clowns and 2 killis in my tetra tank. I wouldn't want any bigger fish in a 36 gallon tank. Balloon mollies are also very entertaining.
Blue Ram
02-21-2008, 04:39 AM
German Blue Rams are fun. They are fairly active ,but they desire a well planted aquarium and excellent water quality. 6.5 - 7.5 pH is recommended. A temperature of 76 degrees Farenhiet should suti them well too.
A small group of 5-6 dwarf loaches would make a splendid display. It is interesting how loaches hide and do all these weird things such as digging and burying themselves in the substarte and some how manageing to get into the pump.
Pearl Gourami's are a strikingly beautiful fish. They reach up to about 4" and are a peacful community fish. On rare occasions they will quarrel with other male pearl gouramis. Many other small gouramis would be a decent choice such as Honeys', Dwarves etc.
Rosy barbs are colorful and a lively schooling fish that would make a nice display. Put in a school of about 6. Other barbs that do not exceed 5" would be good except tiger barbs should not be housed with long finned fish due to there nibbling habits.
Those are some choices that are great fish to choose. There are many other fantastic fish to choose such as danios, other tetras, etc. Good Luck! Hope you pick fish that you enjoy!

what about threadfin rainbows. they stay small and are the most interesting little fish. they have two long dorsal fins and when they are mating or being territorial they flash them really rast, kind of like a flicker. it is awesome. they also have long tails. so beautiful. google em. and they are non aggressive. i would, in your situation, get a school of them over neons. everyone has neons not to many people have threadfin rainbows...
just a thought.
p.s. they are also one of my favorite fishes

not strickly true i have quite a few gouramis, and a 12cm kissing gourami and i have never seen them agressive, sorry but i dont agree with you karbomb hugs to you my friend
now for the angels wow no one answered your question i will angels are what i do the best ( blush)
they are only agressive for 2 reasons,
1: being they are rpotecting eggs/fry
2: they are pariring off and become agressive when choosing a mate
angels are very peaceful at anyother time
and are a great addition to the tank
"Blush" hope this helps

Wow small world, I am from Salmon Arm lol. Before I joined the navy we used to live up towards Tappen. My sister Vicki still lives there and so do my M&D. I agree there is not much to choose from in SA. I don't know of any good places in Kamloops but there are some good places in Kelowna. I'll see if I can dig them up for you.

OMG no way. Thats crazy! lol I'm in Blind Bay! lol but anyways thanks, and I saw a bumblebee goby! I couln'd believe my eyes when I saw it there. How would he be in a community tank? but he was like $17. I would be mad if he died on the way home or something.

Bumblebee gobies are brackish water fish so they would not be suitable for a regular freshwater community tank sorry. As long as the fish are properly prepared for shipping by the lfs, 2 hrs is nothing, the fish would be fine for a trip that short.

Bolivian Rams. Who has some and what do you think of them? I think they look great. Oh also how much do you pay for them?
sailor
02-21-2008, 10:57 PM
I picked up 4 German Blue Rams in a group fish order From Spencer Jack out of Winnipeg for $6.00 a piece. I am going to get more from him next time we have a group order out of Saskatoon. I think they are beautiful fish and they seem to be fitting in well in my 55 gal

Well, I wouldn't get the angels. In a 33 gallon, you only have room for one, but they like company. But you can get:
20 neons
2 rams
6 cories
1 dwarf gourami
3 male guppies
