I was wondering what is the best food to feed my cichlids. I have parrots and kissing groumries in one tank and malawis in the other. I find that their colors are starting to get kind of dull.

LOL this will be a HUGE debate on Hakari or NLS. It's been determined that both are great foods, and you'd do well to go with either ;-)

This has been up for dispute for a long time. Either choice will do right by your fish. Sometimes NLS is hard to find locally so I would go with which 1 is available in your area.

Check out the NLS post in my blog and read through the information on their website. Then decide if Hikari is worth feeding.

The only food we can get around here is wardley ( walmart) and I know it is not the best. My artus looks like he was playing in the mud. His colors are that dull.
Thanks guys I'm going to look in to both of those foods. Then I'm I'm to see which one I can get from Big als.

You can get both from Big Als. I use nls myself for all my fish but I was just trying to say in my earlier post that you will do fine with either choice.

Thanks
It was a great help. I'm just doing my order up now. I'm going to order a little bite of both and see which one I like best. I'll let know how it goes. :19:

To get a true comparison you should feed 1 or the other for a couple of months and then change it up. If you mix you will not get a true comparison. One other thing as they are both high quality food you do not need to feed a much as with other foods.

well What I was thinking of do is feeding one tank one kind of food and feeding the other tank the other kind of food. Then I was just going to compare the two.
What Do you think?

Might work but each fish mat react differently to them. Either Hikary Cichlid Bio-Gold or NLS Cichlid formula. Both will get you the color you are looking for.

If they are 2 tanks of different species of fish you would not get a true comparison.

NLS almost always proves to be much better, so just try that one first and if you have any issues you can always switch later.

Your auratus is mud-colored? Male.

Thanks, I'm going to try the NLS first.
He's male, that mean the females are brighter?

Yes, one of few cases where the females are more attractive. The females retain that bright yellow and black juvenile coloration.
