View Full Version : Winter Ode to Michigan

It's winter here in Michigan
And the gentle breezes blow,
Seventy miles an hour,
At twenty five below.
Oh, how I love ole Michigan
When the snow's up to your butt.
You take a breath of winter and your nose freezes shut.
Yes, the weather here is wonderful
So I guess I'll hang around.
I could never leave my Michigan
Cause I'm frozen to the ground!
:jaws: And here comes another storm.

LOL Funny--I am so glad I don't live there, I hate the cold...couldn't wait to move from Sweden to someplace a bit warmer...I don't know how you deal with it year in and year out.

Haha.... There were 30 mph winds here last night with huge gusts.... I hate it when it is windy.... I'd rather be outside in -10 with no wind them 20 with gusts......Nice little deal you got there Hobbs... Catchy it is

Lovely poem Hobbs.
Temperature wise, it's been pretty clement here in Quebec City. But with "warmer" temperature comes the snow. We've had line 10-11 feet of snow fall since November ... and it's still snowing ... and I'll give you 1 chance to guess who shovels the snow around our appartment building.
To make matter worse, I've got a partial shoulder dislocation, ain't life grand. :help:

I really like your poem...
It reminds me of what we live here in Quebec.. But as Sas told you, we have for now "warmer" temperature ... And a lot of snow... I find it lovely but I'm sorry that Sasquatch has to shovel the snow with his shoulder out of order...
I think what's worth is that when they annouce only 2-4cm, you receive like 10-15cm of snow... :help:

OMG Lady Hobbs, that was too funny. I come from across the ditch, from the frozen tundra of green bay. I remember those times, and for some unknown reason, wish I could return back to Green Bay. I am in Florida now, and have found that it is completely backwards here. In the winter here, everyone comes out, throw parties, and have all kinds of outdoor activities. Try doing that in the dead of winter up north, well, like you said, we'd be frozen to the ground.
I do miss the seasons, and if I ever get a chance, northbound I will be once again.
Thanks for the chuckle

Love the poem Hobbs, although I feel sorry for you, it is currently 10 degrees celcius today and we have no snow on the ground, I can't wait for spring.

Should send you some from here Hobbs, been about 96 -100 here for the last week, bit cooler today 77, but meant to be back up there again in a couple of days! Might get a bit or rain today though, dry as a dead dingos donga here at the moment, swap you some sun for some snow, that's just melt here and give us a bit of wet stuff! thumbs2:
Seriously don't know how you lot put up with the cold like you do!:22:

I enjoy a nice storm. The power goes out, thunder and lightening, raining dogs and cats. I hate heavy winds though. Cant stand it!

I can't believe I left FL two years ago to move back to this crap. I was there 15 years and thought it would be nice to be nearer my kids. Sheesh. I never see them anyway so now wish I was back in FL. I have a daughter and two grands there. But, when I'm there I miss Mi and here I miss FL.
This winter has been a bad one even in MI standards. Relentless.
