I'm finally pulling myself together!

Here is my current 42g tank status and stocking:

Status:
- 1 tank (42g)
- 2 bushy tall plants, 1 shory bushy plant & a weed plant.
- 2 River rocks
- 1 large piece of driftwood
- 5ml creamy gavel, covers at least 2" of bottom.

Stocking 42g:
- 2 Silver Sharks, 2" & 4"
- 1 Opaline Gourami, 4"
- 5 Angelfish, 1-2"
- 4 Bristlenoses, 1"-1.5" & 3"
- 7 Glowlight Tetras, 1"-1.5"
- 1 Kuhli Loach, ?

Note: **1 Angelfish traded for one 3" Bristlenose**

-----------------------------------------------------------

This is what is going to happen, some in close future, others may be months away! My plans:

FUTURE Status:
- 1 tank (42g), 1 Angel breeding tank & 1 large tank (Sizes not decided)
(42g) - 3 bushy tall plants, 2 shory bushy plant & a weed plant.
(42g) - 2 River rocks
(42g) - 1 large piece of driftwood
(42g) - 5ml creamy gavel, covers at least 2" of bottom.
(42g) - 3 pieces of slate (to make a cave)

(ABT) - 1 large piece of slate OR 2 if divided
(ABT) - 1 tall bushy plant OR 2 if divided
(ABT) - NO gravel/sand/subtrate
(ABT) - IF needed: divider

** ABT - Angel breeding tank**

FUTURE Stocking, 42g:
- 1 Opaline Gourami
- 3 (?) Angelfish, or 1
- 3 Bristlenoses
- 12 Glowlight Tetras
- 1 Kuhli Loach

**If 2 more Angelfish pair up, the breeding tank will be larger and would be divided**

FUTURE Stocking, ABT:
- 2 paired Angels or 4.
- 1 Bristlenose or 2

**This one all depends on whether its divided or not**

The bigger tank I want is waayyyyy into the future (December) So I won't list that. I just thought I'd tell you guys my plans and hopes :)

u woulod be able to have 4 pairs of angels in a 42G i thinks!!

Demi ^_^
02-19-2008, 07:29 AM
*sigh* No, unfortunately I won't.... Daddy said if I paid off all the cash I owe and look after my fishies properly, he might get me a tank for breeding and if I get 2 pairs of breeding Angels, I will just divide that tank. That way my tetras won't be in as much danger, as aggresion really starts when breeding happens... =/

Demi ^_^
02-19-2008, 07:36 AM
No, I think bigger than that..... it just seems way to small!

Great to see you are really thinking here Demi :thumb:

When your dad decides you are ready for another tank, get him to check out Ebay, if you are in or close to one of the cities, there is often cheap large tanks on there.

Demi ^_^
02-19-2008, 08:30 AM
Thanx Crack =) I will do, on the Ebay too, infact I'm looking right now! My dad came in before and we were looking at some tanks. What do you think is better, getting the tank and buying everything individualy or buying the whole set-up? I can't wait to setup another tank, but this time I want it in my room, so the size can't be toio big ;)

Personally, I would get it individually, that way you can get what you want, besides, if you do find a tank on ebay, what you save on the tank will help towards accesaries.
I buy a lot of stuff through this place [Only Registered Users Can See Links.]
I have found the owner, very freindly, helpful, and there are often some really good specials on there.

Good to hear that Demi!! So no more Sharks yeah?

Harls Angelfish are much larger than other fish and shouldn't be kept in anything under a 40g

Demi ^_^
02-19-2008, 08:43 AM
Thanx Crack, I would rather do it that way anyway =) Also thanx for the link, but I don't think I'll be ordering over the internet since we have a terrific LFS here =D

Angel question - when do they start pairing up? I would like to be prepared before it happens, lol ;) The Angelfish are only 1-2"
except for 2 or 3 which are about 2-3"

Thanx! Yeah I guess so... In all honesty I should have never bought them :) And again in all honesty I much prefer my Angels, Tetras and Bristlenoses to them anyway... But I DO love them and although it'll be sad to give them away, it'll be the right thing to do =D

No worries Demi, thats the only problem living in the country, prices for products here is so expensive, eg. at our LFS the exact same canister filter I got for my 120G was $200, from that site I paid $100.

Our LFS is ok not too bad although in town there is one with REALLY cheap pices u should check out demi it has a lot of filters and accesories but hasn't got 2 many fish i thinks its about 10 tanks.... its Micks Sports store and aquarium u should check it out

Give the angels about 6 months to a year to pair up, depending on their size.

Demi ^_^
02-19-2008, 08:14 PM
Hehe, you wait! I want the ABT to be only about 2ft....Is that enough? I'm doing the dimensions and working it into gallons now..... oh and by the way, the Angels are around 1-3"

Demi ^_^
02-19-2008, 08:19 PM
2ft x 1ft x 1ft - that seems small in hieght for aangels, but how is that?

fishfanatic33
02-19-2008, 08:21 PM
Get a 100g......5'x2'tallx16"deep. Plenty of room for angels....lol

im no expert i suppose it would depend on your angels height when they breed.

Demi ^_^
02-19-2008, 08:24 PM

Nice buy if you buy. I hope you have easy goings with your angels pairing up. I like in the description of the tank it reads
"THIS GORGEOUS FISH TANK COMES WITH EVERYTHING SEEN IN THE PICS.

THE FISH TANK ITSELF MEASURES...

2FT LONG

30CM WIDE

34CM HIGH"

if you are going to do that you will need to divide with something the angels cant see each other through, i have what i thought was ok and one of my pairs wont spawn because they can see through the other side,

just keep that in mind and you will also need to have a fry friendly filtering system in place in that tank that will filter enough not to kill the fry or adults

demi i have my breeding angels in a 3ft high divided tank
thought i give you a early hand on this

Demi ^_^
02-20-2008, 08:22 AM
Thanx Mitcore, I was kinda waiting for the Angel Expert LOL. I can't go any bigger than a 2ft, so I suppose I'll only keep one pair in their. I have heard alot about sponge filters for breeding - will that work?

mitcore
02-20-2008, 08:26 AM
you can put angels in the 2ft but i would only put in one pair dont divide the 2ft it will be too small and they wont spawn

the sponge filters are great i have one running my whole 3ft high divided tank with a little extra help being my fresh water mussels and snails when there are no eggs, my tank goes well and my current batch is growing fast go check it out there are pics in the angel section of my fry,
i think it says something like update of fry

Demi ^_^
02-20-2008, 08:32 AM
Will do.... I think we will be going, erm, bigger. I showed dad tha tank on Ebay and he said if I wanted another tank I might as well get a 4ft..... Maybe, I could put all the communtiy fish into the 4ft (IF we get one..) and have the 3ft as the Angel breeding tank =) It sounds better to me!

mitcore
02-20-2008, 08:40 AM
it does sound great and if you get the 3ft you can divide it with no issues to the breeding or to the angels themselfs

i am logging out check in on this thread tom

missed you my little friend
LOL theres one for you

There used to be a bloke on ebay in QLD that built tanks, he was selling 4ft for $75 and 6ft for $99, don't know if he is still selling them on there.

**Bump**

Thanx Crack, I'll have a look-see!

I may be going to the LFS today and want to get the following:

- 3 Glowlite Tetras
- 1-2 Kuhli Loaches (Black and a striped one which I can tell apart from Freddie!!!)

Would that be okay to add? How many do I need of minimum to keep my Kuhlis and glowlites happy?
