View Full Version : Cutting down my plant list...help plz!

Hi there,

I have my tank full, CO2 will be ready to go Wednesday and I have a list of plants that I need to cut back I think, my new lights will be here wednesday and will give me about 2.25wpg

Here is my list are there plants on this list that need more than 2.25wpg or for some other reason plants to avoid?

1. Frontinalis Moss
2. Elocharis acicularis Dwarf hair grass
3. Echinodorus tenellus Pygmy chain sword
4. Hydrocotyle verticillata Marsh Pennywort
5. Microsorum pteropus Java Fern (narrow)
6. Anubias afzelii
7. Anubias Nano
8. Didiplis diandra
9. Rotala wallichii
10. Anubias barteri ‘ ‘nana’
11. Anubias barteri ' ‘coffeefolia'
12. Lobelia cardinalis
13. Echinodorus 'Ozelot'
14. Echinodorus 'Red Devil'
15. Echindorus ‘ Rose’
16. Echinodorus 'Rubin'
17. Echinodorus 'Tropica'
18. Echinodorus Tropica Marble Queen'
19. Bacopa

Nos. 8, 9 and 22 need between 4 and 5 watts per gallon. The L. glandulosa will lose most of its red color in your light, and you're lucky to have the L. sessilflora there in Oz, since its illegal in the US. The L. aquatica prefers cooler water, about 72 degrees, but you can keep it up to 79, no higher. It'll also get stringy in your lower light level.
If you could manage between 3 and 4, if the lights are bright enough, like T5s, you might get away with all of them save for the Blyxa, as it has to have between 4 and 5 or more.

I checked the ones that I feel wont work with your light.And marked the ones that Im sure will do great and some I just dont know what they are.

Sorry, but E. tennelus grows perfectly in 2+ watts per gallon, which is what he has.

Thx for double checking my work Dave,you are Truly a credit.I was thinking micro sword.I have chain sword and it does grow well but Im using almost 4wpg.
