At the first of the year I had the opportunity to get 3 Electric Blue Jack Dempseys. They were just about an inch at the time. About a week ago I found one dead under a rock. No clue what happened. Water parameters are fine, all fish are feeding and acting great. I decided to keep a close eye on the tank for the last week. Everything is great, the other 2 Dempseys are now just under 2" and doing fine. Any one have a clue what could have happened?
Could have just been a weak specimen to begin with.

That is what I am thinking but he made it over a month. I know these are tough to get to 4" but as I understand it that's the finish line. I just hope I can keep the other 2 going. They are such cool fish

It may have been an internal parasite.

There is a million things it coulda been... He coulda been getting beaten up by the other two, just been weak, not eating, swim bladder, internal parasite..... It is so hard to determine a fishes death cause... Sorry for your loss and good luck with the remaining two. Take some pics I am sure they are amazing....
