So I'm thinking again what to do with my tanks and boom.... clown knife... I had one before and it was awesome........ Does anyone have one.......

Of course this wouldn't happen until the current tennents were moved....

yeah my last one was almost 18 inches...... he ate feeders like it was noones business...... I spent more on his food than my wife and mine both... lol

I've read they can get like 3 feet long....

I really wouldn't jbeining, those things get way too big.
They can get to 40", bigger than some arowanas. It would be nearly the length of the tank when fully grown.

yeah I was thinking african knife or black ghost they get like 20 inches

Black ghost in a 55, whole different story. Half the size of clowns.
Even so, they can still get to 20" in aquaria, and I wonldn't keep one in a 55. But jsut because I wouldn't doesn't mean it isn't doable, with the proper filtration and lots hard-work, you could do it.
Same with african knifes.

African knifes stop at around 14 inches... I could get him in easy with another fish.... I had a clown in a 55 gallon in Hawaii but got rid of him instead of putting him into my 220...

africans i wouldnt recommend in anything under 75g. def. no to clown knifes, they need 300g's
