They top out at 6 inches, but slow down considerably after they hit four. You might want to seek out the striped guys, Botia striata, instead, as they grow to four inches, and slow way down at less than three. They are also very cute.
Only problem is the loaches will eat fish eggs and fry as they forage night and day. Better would be a sextet of Panda corys, which would suit the Apistos just fine.
