Just wondering- i have some sort of potted sword plant in a freshwater aquarium ~1 year old. How do i know when to re-pot? Should i even use a pot or should i just bury the roots in gravel? Can i divide this type of plant?

Thanks...

you probably got an amazon sword which doesn't need the pot you can bury it in the substrate but make sure it gets nutrients...... also welcome to AC!!!!

I dont uusually leave the plants in the pot. You can either take it out of the pot and bury the roots in the substrate, which is better but the sword will have to get reestablished, or you can just leave it in the pot. There is no need to repot though.

You can keep it in the pot if you plan to rearrange a lot. I would think taking it out of the pot would allow the root to spread. If you have a UGF then you should leave it in the pot. You can't divide them. They produce offspring through runner.
