Just came home to find that my baby angelfish have laid eggs - the angels are only around 5-6 months themselves so I doubt much will come of it... still cute to see the parental instincts taking over and to see how hard they are trying :41:

Must keep the eggs well fanned

Quick inspection to make sure all are still there

If its the same one, maybe all them cherry shrimp he ate triggered the spawn!! :ezpi_wink1:

Hahahaha Tolley never thought of that... nothing like a nice romantic shrimp dinner thumbs2: thumbs2:

One of them is indeed the shrimp eater :thumb:

I am amazed myself how well they are doing so far for their age <sighs, the youth of today!!! starting so young 'tuts'> :ezpi_wink1:

Congrats!
Hopefully they'll be good parents and not eat their babies, but they'll get the hang of it sooner or later! Angels are so fun to breed!

Whatever you (or the fish) did, keep it up! Great job! Your angel must love you very much because of how you care for them. Everybody here knows how experienced you are.

oops sorry - eggs have hatched and the little ones are clinging to the leaf with the teenage parents catching up the little ones that fall from the leaf...they are currently getting another leaf ready to move them so I will try and take a foto quick as the other leaf is harder to get a piccie of thumbs2:

I am amazed that they are breeding so young and that all has gone so well for their first time! They are brilliant parents...

Fishalicious
02-17-2008, 08:28 PM
So tired of getting this one cycled your just going to start another huh? This time properly :hmm3grin2orange: (plant cycle)

02-17-2008, 08:32 PM
Well, I noticed one LFS still has a special on Juwel tanks, still, and Eheim prof III 2180's and since I have to drive all the way to R-dam why not just not postpone the inevitable? LOL Yes, planted cycle LOL I still have nitrite issues, but no ammonia issues...I just don't get it LOL

Fishalicious
02-17-2008, 08:34 PM
Which one is it this time? The Rio 400? You have waaaaaaaaay too much money LOL

Nice though - you can go for two completely different looking tanks :ezpi_wink1:

Maybe one Amazon and one Asian...

02-17-2008, 08:39 PM
What are you, a freakin' mind reader? LOL, well, I have space and will have the cash on Friday, so what the heck? I told you there was a discus tank in my future, but that's probably a bit off...maybe in a few years if I can ever cycle an freakin' tank LOL Asian, maybe African, but I'm not sure I can cope with making the water harder. We're so lucky to have great water in NLs. I can set this up and take my time...plus the eheim III's price are excellent...and the aanbeiding on the tanks...I froth :18: Now, what do to with tax refund in two months time????

Fishalicious
02-17-2008, 08:43 PM
Making the water harder is a breeeeeeze here... just use coral sand as a substrate and you are ready for africans - Malawi or Tang :ezpi_wink1:

Why wait with Discus though? Just get a Osmosis unit and you are ready...that keeps the PH nice and low :thumb:

Mind reader - Yep - be careful what you think about :ezpi_wink1: hehehehehe

02-17-2008, 08:46 PM
I don't know if I can deal with osmosis LOL, sound like a disease the way I wrote it...sigh, let me look at prices...gotta deal for me? better hurry up before I start scheming a third tank :ezpi_wink1:

Gotta save some of the dosh for a shield for the mind-readers in this country LOL

Saltwater :hmm3grin2orange: :hmm3grin2orange:!!! That's what i'm doing :thumb:.

Fishalicious
02-17-2008, 08:49 PM
Hahaha you can get an Osmosis unit for 120 Euro's for a simple one for your needs ... they are really easy to use once you know how.

On Discus fish I can get you great deals so don't go spending hundreds on them!!

I am in Jersey next week Tolley if you want to pop over to the island :thumb:

Ok just been running around like an idiot as the angelfish are moving the fry to one of the red lotus leaves.... got it all set up but then it is too dark...so had to go raking for a torch as the flashlight was overkill <sighs>

Was worth it though - here are some of the just moved babes in torchlight LOL taken with my new macro lens ... mmmh need to make more macro shots... never realized how much green was in a red lotus leaf til now...

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v707/Cutsie1/angelfishbaby.jpg

I will try and get some more but I don't want to invade too much as I don't want them to eat the fry

02-17-2008, 09:10 PM
We're not too much :1luvu:

Beautiful photo...you deserve another award for that shot! Is the camera in the tank or what? Beautiful...they are so, so, so cute! Who ever would have thought that those tadpole-like fry would grow up to be angel fish! I gotta have some :-)

Fishalicious
02-17-2008, 09:18 PM
Well I already defo have 2 for you Greg if you want... the paired up love birds are not making life very nice for the other 2 - they are only 6 months old so still all little and cute or you can wait 3 months for these babies to grow up...

For once I am happy with a foto as well... I am going to be taking foto's with my new macro lens all day tomorrow now LOL See what else I can all capture so close up...

Now stop sliming ... I am blushing here :41: hehehehehe

Three months...hmmm, probably the time it will take the first tank to cycle, so yeah, what the hay LOL

I am so not sure about being a grandparent and great-grandparent with that profilic pair LOL...although the offer is tempting :c7:
