Could I keep some of these in my 20gal long or would it cause problems with the apistos? What do you think?

They are top feeders and may stay away from the apistos but then again they may chase them to no end. They are know for eating other fish. They get around 3-4 and apistos 3 or so.... You might get away with it but I'd probably try something a little less aggressive.... .

Try some tetra or a docile species of caracins....

killies eat anything that will fit into their mouths. I can't keep ghost shrimp or any smaller tetras because Joe or Edna (my killies) will eat them. They are beautiful fish but it limits what I can put into my tank.

I had one and really liked him and he wouldn't bother anything. Suddenly I added some gourami's and for some reason he hated one of them and chased it to no end. Go figure, huh?

killies are harmless, i had some but theyre notorious jumpers and you know the rest. at $5 each i see no problem trying them with apistos, id get 4 killies

With apistos I don't think there would be much of a problem.
Its only the smaller tetras and livebearers that can be thought of as food.
